Durga joined us as Vice President, Global Franchise General Manager, Cardiovascular in August 2019.
Durga has over 25 years of global biopharma experience and brings extraordinary depth of business development, alliance management and commercial expertise with a significant array of accomplishments in cardiovascular medicine. In addition, Durga excels in identifying and advancing disruptive molecules and patient engagement tools in collaboration with the world’s leading cardiovascular thought leaders. Durga began his marketing career at Merck in 1996 and over a 15-year span contributed significantly to the success of Merck’s vast cardiovascular and vaccine portfolios. Durga supported the ex-US launches of four vaccines and helped Merck Vaccines quadruple annual sales, in 18 months, to $4 billion to become the world’s number one vaccine company. After Merck, Durga further expanded his marketing and executive leadership growth at Genentech, Amgen and MyoKardia, where he was the first commercial hire and the interim VP, HCM Project Team.
Durga currently serves on the board of directors of Verndari Inc., the American Heart Association and the Health Sector Advisory Committee at Duke.
Durga received a Bachelor of International Business Administration from The George Washington University, and an MBA from Georgetown University, where he received the Dean’s Citation for distinguished service and leadership.
Durga and his wife, Geetika, are active volunteers in their community, supporting high school sports, Burlingame Library, Boy Scouts, the Hillsborough Neighborhood Network and Georgetown University.
