James Burke

VP, External Manufacturing & Supply Operations

James joined Cytokinetics as Vice President of External Manufacturing and Supply Operations in July 2025.   

James brings more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Before joining Cytokinetics, James spent more than 15 years at Alkermes where he held progressive roles, ultimately serving as the Vice President of External Operation and Supply Chain. James began his career at Wyeth Medica Ireland.  

In 2013, James qualified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He holds a master’s degree in management practice and completed the Institute of Directors Chartered Directors program to navigate the complexities of modern business leadership. 

James lives outside Dublin, Ireland, with his wife and three adult children along with an expanding bunch of grandchildren with the help of the caretaker of the house: A 6-year-old Cockapoo named Willow. He enjoys family holidays, the outdoors, playing golf, and classic car restoration to keep his mind sharp for resolving real-world problems.
