VP, Associate General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

John Faurescu was appointed Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in March 2023. Since joining Cytokinetics in 2019, John has held various roles in the company’s legal department of increasing responsibility, including overseeing corporate governance, SEC reporting, debt and equity financing transactions, IP licensing, and general commercial and R&D contracting.

John is a corporate, securities and transactional lawyer with over 18 years of experience. He started his career at Linklaters in Europe, where he practiced as a corporate and transactional lawyer with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, particularly transactions involving life science companies. He continued his career in the Boston office of Locke Lord LLP, where he represented life sciences and technology companies, as well as venture capital and private equity funds, on corporate governance, securities, licensing, mergers and acquisitions and general business matters. John has also worked as in-house counsel at several pharmaceutical and biotech companies, most recently at Impax Laboratories and Ardelyx.

John is admitted to the California, New York and Massachusetts bars, as well as a qualified solicitor of England & Wales.

John is a history buff and an avid traveler, having visited over 30 countries. In his free time, he enjoys skiing and exploring archeological and world heritage sites with his two children.
